Steel Detailing & Structural Engineering · Omaha, NE
Shop drawings, erection drawings, roof systems, and delegated connection design for fabricators and erectors nationwide. Jobs from 200 to 1,300 tons — retail, schools, hospitals, convention centers, and industrial plants.
Three decades of commercial and industrial steel from Omaha, Nebraska. Big-box retail, warehouses, malls, dealerships, and plants across the United States — priced hourly or per ton, your choice.
What's in the package
Complete releases by sequence — main structure, roof system, and misc together — in the formats your equipment and your reviewers actually use.
One drawing per piece — dimensions, hole patterns, copes, weld symbols, grade, and finish. Cut straight from it.
Plans, elevations, piece marks, sequence marks, field bolt and weld notes. Legible from a lift.
Joist and joist-girder layouts, deck plans, bridging, and bearing details — coordinated with the frame, not bolted on afterward.
ABM out as soon as the model closes — before approval, before fab release — so the mill order isn't the bottleneck.
Released ahead of the rest of the package, because the foundation pour doesn't wait on steel.
Multiple revision rounds and expedited turnaround are part of how we work, not a change order. Ask for the schedule you actually need.
Steel Detailing Services
Structural steel detailing, roof systems, miscellaneous metals, and delegated connection design on one contract and one schedule — so the connection question doesn't become a two-week RFI.
The main frame, modeled to your shop's conventions and released by erection sequence. Commercial and industrial, 200 to 1,300 tons.
Joists, joist girders, and metal deck detailed alongside the frame. Bearing conditions, bridging, and openings resolved in the same model instead of across two vendors.
The scope that eats schedules when it's an afterthought — stairs, rails, towers, platforms, and embeds detailed as part of the same package.
Most detailers hand the connection question back to you. We carry it — managing the delegated design through our structural engineer and returning it sealed, as part of the same package.
Why fabricators stay with our steel detailing
Twenty thousand projects don't come from winning bids. They come from fabricators who called back — because the package released clean, the material bought right, and the steel fit when it landed on the deck.
National retail programs run on opening dates that were set a year out and will not slide because detailing ran long. Three decades inside that kind of calendar is why our turnaround commitments mean something.
A rush package, three jobs landing the same week, or a 1,300-ton industrial build doesn't sit in a queue — it gets a team. Take the overflow or take the whole job.
Average per-ton rates when you're bidding tonnage, hourly when the scope is loose. You shouldn't have to guess how our fee behaves when the job changes.
Expedited service and multiple revision rounds are built into how we work. The EOR's third markup shouldn't turn into a negotiation.
You don't have to line up a separate engineer or manage a second contract. We coordinate the delegated connection design alongside the detailing and deliver it sealed with the package.
Long-term contracts, not one-off transactions. We set up to your shop standards and stay set up — so job forty looks exactly like job one to your fitters.
Multi-site & retail programs
Twenty thousand projects across three decades means very few prototypes are new to us. Store number forty doesn't start from zero — it starts from a building we already know, with the same piece marks, the same connection standards, and the same drawing format your fitters saw at site one.
What does change site to site is the part people underestimate: local seismic, wind, and snow loads move the connections even when the building is identical. Because we coordinate the connection design alongside the detailing, that's handled in one pass — you're not managing two vendors and a handoff.
Connection design, handled
Most detailers stop at the drawing and send you back to the Engineer of Record. We take delegated connection design all the way through — from the EOR's reactions to sealed calculations and fabrication-ready details — working with the licensed structural engineer we've partnered with for years. You hold one contract and one schedule, and there's one point of accountability when the reviewer has a comment.
Detailed to the AISC Code of Standard Practice (AISC 303). Calculations are sealed by a licensed Professional Engineer; licensure and out-of-state sealing are arranged per project jurisdiction.

About NCD Steel Detailing
New Century Development has provided structural steel detailing for commercial and industrial buildings and roof systems out of Omaha, Nebraska for thirty years — more than twenty thousand projects across the United States, from single misc packages to 1,300-ton industrial plants.
Detailing is the whole business, and it has been the whole business the entire time. What keeps fabricators coming back for three decades is the combination of capacity to hold an unforgiving schedule and a package that arrives complete — including the connection design most detailers hand back.
The work is relationship work. Most of our volume runs on long-term contracts where we operate as an extension of the fabricator's own team — same standards, same formats, job after job.
